Outlook Express

Instructions for Setting Up POP3 Accounts

Setting Up POP3 Mail Accounts on Microsoft Outlook Express:

  • Open Outlook Express.
  • Click on Tools.
  • Click on Accounts.
  • Click on the Mail tab.
  • Click Add, click Mail.
  • In Display Name, enter your name as you would normally print it.
  • Click Next.
  • Select “I already have an email address that I’d like to use” and type in the e-mail address in the text field.
  • Click Next.
  • My incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
  • In the Incoming Mail Server field, type one of the following:
    mail.yourdomainname.com OR mail.mathbox.com
  • In the Outgoing Mail Server field, type one of the following:
    mail.yourdomainname.com OR mail.mathbox.com
  • Click Next.
  • In the Account Name field, type your e-mail address.
  • In the Password field, type your password.
  • You may or may not check the Remember Password box, it is your choice.
  • Do not place a check in the box next to Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA).
  • Click Next.
  • Click Finish.
  • You should be looking at the Accounts window - the Mail tab.
  • Select the mail account and click on the Properties button to the right.
  • Click on the Servers tab.
  • Place a check mark beside My Server Requires Authentication (located at the bottom of the window).
  • Click on the Settings button.
  • Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
  • Click on the Advanced tab.
  • Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) from 25 to 587.
  • Click OK.
  • Click Apply.
  • Click OK.
  • Click Close on the Internet Accounts window.
  • Your mail account is now set up on Outlook Express.
